The Fengdu Museum site is located near the Ming Mountain Ancient City Shuanggui Huating Project in the Ming Mountain Group of Fengdu County. It is bordered by the Yangtze River to the south and the Ming Mountain Scenic Area to the north, situated at the southern end of an isolated and narrow triangular plot. The area is free from the backdrop of tall urban buildings, offering an exclusive view of the beautiful mountain and river scenery.

The architectural design of the Fengdu Museum encapsulates the concept of "sail shadows on the gorges." Along the shoreline where cliffs meet the river, abstract shapes of mountains and water are extracted and translated into steep wall sections reminiscent of the historical scale, echoing the magnificent scenery of the Three Gorges. This vertical expression is complemented by a horizontal thick slab constructed in line with the plot’s direction, resembling the deck of a ship. This structure provides a horizontal backbone for the museum, sheltering the temporary exhibition hall on the first floor while supporting the permanent exhibition hall on the second floor.

The interior space of the museum, protected by tall wall sections, allows for flexible and free exhibition arrangements. Visitors enter through the entrance hall located at the southern end, which offers various service functions and vertical transportation. From here, they can proceed north into the exhibition areas on the first or second floor, gradually exploring the fascinating contents of each exhibition hall.
